FROM MY HEART:
“Just when I thought I knew exactly where the spiritual journey led, I found myself writing about the real world – regret, loss, honesty, faith, greed, hope, passion, love, hate and, of course, the heart. Now, I don’t see the difference.”
“Most of my songs are inspired by my own personal experiences or those of friends (and sometimes strangers). When I first started writing years ago, I was very aware of what I thought people wanted to hear. Eventually, there were so many issues that I felt intensely about, I started addressing some of the current ethical, social, and personal challenges that face us. It’s great to see others identify with my lyrics.”
“The songwriting process is a spiritual cleansing for me. To say something that might actually “make a difference” and provoke thought (or reevaluation) is my ultimate goal. And maybe a song will heal and entertain at the same time. An idea strikes me and I usually know exactly where I want to go with it, but I’m not always sure how I’ll execute it and get to the bottom line. Sometimes even the bottom line gets adjusted once everything is put together.”
“Performing is a rush for me. Finally, I get to give the song and complete the circle. I love the drama, energy, and passion that can happen on stage. I also enjoy an intimate setting where I have the freedom to move into the audience and be a part of the crowd.”
